Pinglang Village sees boom in study tours

Jun Thu 2024
From June 15 to 17, more than 800 teachers and students from Xiangxi Congwen Education Group took a study tour in Pinglang Village, Aizhai Town, Jishou City, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, experiencing agricultural culture and intangible cultural heritage techniques.

They carried out agricultural activities such as transplanting rice seedlings and grinding tofu to feel the charm of the village, one of the first batch of ethnic minority characteristic villages in China.

Pinglang Village has made efforts to promote rural cultural and tourism revitalization through intangible cultural heritage and study tours. It has built a number of agricultural intangible cultural heritage experience bases, such as the Miao Drum Training Institute, parent-child farm, and tofu processing workshop, and created a distinctive study tour brand for intangible cultural heritage experience based on local conditions.

“We will develop and manage the tourism and cultural resources and related supporting facilities in the village in a reasonable way, in a bid to attract tourists and promote the sustainable revitalization of Pinglang Village,” said Shi Qingxiang, Party secretary of the village.
